Brinkster really sucks.
Well, I guess I finally pissed off Brinkster with my article about how much they suck. Well, they shut down my site because they are a bunch of cock mongers, so now I am going to give them a verbal impaling (right up their ass).
So, Paul Murdock (Vice President of the worst web host in the world) emailed me and told me I was in violation of some bullshit terms. Here is what he wrote:
"NOTICE: Your site hosted with Brinkster is in violation of our Terms of Service. You will need to delete any content/images that violate our terms and reply to this e-mail when completed."
Vague as fuck, right? So, I emailed him back asking what the fuck he was talking about, as any reasonable human being would. After all, how am I supposed to know what is in violation? So, after about two days with no response from Brinkster, I get another email from that sandy cunt, Paul Murdock:
"Failure to reply has resulted in your account being stopped"
What the fuck? So, I went and talked to some people using their shitty live chat feature which is like talking to someone using AOL Instant Messenger Version 1.1 from 8 years ago... except it is worse because you have to look at this annoying bitch:
I should add that I talked to at least 5 people through this thing, none of whom were female...
and all of them probably ate dirty cock nightly.
Here are is the choice part of the first conversation I had with the guy I talked to the most, Alex:
Alex:
Your site is
currently violating our terms of service.
yourapathy: Yes,
I know that. But nobody explained WHY
Alex: If
you do not plan on altering your site at this time, you will need to find an
alternate hosting company.
Alex: Please
let me know how you wish to proceed.
yourapathy: Ok...
well, what needs to be altered? That was NEVER explained to me.
Alex: [here he copy and pasted the entire
Terms of Service agreement]
yourapathy:
Ok... my
website doesn't apply to any of that.
Alex: I
will not be able to interpret our terms for you.
yourapathy: Alright,
so I am not in violation of TOS.
Alex: If
you do not agree to our terms (by not altering your site), please make plans to
transfer your site at this time.
Alex: Your
site *is* violating our terms.
yourapathy: I
agree to your terms.
Alex:
You will need to change your site at this time.
yourapathy: Ok...
but there is nothing that needs to be changed in order to comply with your
terms.
Alex: Please
let me know when any content/images are removed from your site that violate
these terms.
yourapathy: Ok...
they are.
Alex: I
will not assume you are removing content/images that are violating our terms.
You will need to let me know when this material is removed.
Alex: If
you are stating that it is removed. We will review your site.
yourapathy: Yeah...
it has been removed because there is none.
Alex: If
the material has not been removed, your site will not be started.
yourapathy: It
has been removed.
yourapathy: In
fact, it was removed even before the website was started.
yourapathy: Unless
you can tell me something specific that is in violation ... there is nothing in
violation.
Alex: You
agreed to our terms when you signed up for your account with Brinkster.
yourapathy: Yes...
and I agree now
.
Anyway, that conversation pretty much went in circles for over an hour. Finally, he told me that somebody would be contacting me and he exited that chat. Well, nobody contacted me. So, the next day I go on that live chat bullshit again and talk to somebody else. After a few minutes of going nowhere, I get transferred to Alex again and this time he acted a little more "human."
So, he started quoting some shit I said on my message board about Brinkster. I find it really funny that Brinkster actually reads my message boards, but it is not surprising after I found out that they read my website too. Although, I guess you would tend to notice when the anti-Brinkster article shows up in the 2nd page of results when you search "Brinkster" in Google. Here are a few snippits:
Alex:
Hello again.
yourapathy: Hey,
what's up Alex?
Alex: I
read your posting on the internet: Those fuckers shut down my site (only
temporarily, though). They said I never replied to their message telling me I
was in violaton of their TOS. I am so fucking pissed at Brinkster right now.
Alex: I did notice your page regarding the reasons you hate Brinkster.
yourapathy:
Yeah. I figured that was why.
yourapathy: Touched
a nerve, I guess.
He then started arguing with me about why Brinkster is good, going point by point... most of which still gave me no confidence in Brinkster. Example:
Alex:
Number 3: 3. Their e-mail hosting
is slow. I have a couple e-mail accounts with Brinkster (they came with the
plan) and I usually spend about 2 minutes waiting for the page to load. It's
annoying as hell. On top of that I have my e-mail set to be forwarded to a non-brinkster-wait-forever
account, and half of the emails aren't ever forwarded.
yourapathy: That
is true.
yourapathy: I
have had nothing but problems with brinkster email.
Alex: I
do admit we had problems with our e-mail. We are about to increase this
performance.
Alex: This
is going to cost a lot of money because we are adding many servers to boost
performance.
Alex: I am sorry you had
problems with our mail system.
Yeah, that really makes me want to reconsider Brinkster. Although, I can't reconsider because I have problems with my consideration. I really want to increase my consideration, but it costs a lot of money and will take a long time. I am sorry you had problems with it. Now go fuck yourself.
However, it got really interesting when he got to this part:
Alex:
Number 4: 4. Who the fuck are these
kids on the front page and why the hell do they look so happy if they are using
Brinkster?:
Alex: This
is a graphic that we paid for. This means your site is using a copyrighted image
on your site. (FYI)
Using copyrighted images is against the Terms of Service. This only makes me wonder if the entire justification for shutting down my website was because of this one stupid picture that I used on my website. I guess I shouldn't have used that copyrighted picture from that live chat bullshit... I'll have to remember to take that out.
Anyway, I got sick of their bullshit and just took a $10 refund for my remaining time on their servers that I didn't get to use. However, I argued that they really should give me a full refund for all the shit they put me through.
Still not convinced that Brinkster is run by a bunch of dyslexic monkeys that eat their own shit for lunch? Here are few quotes taken from various reviews of brinkser:
webhostingjury.com --
"... Brinkster has serious issues with money. Don't trust the website statistics in the Administration panel for keeping tabs on your bandwidth useage - its unreliable. I ended up having to pay $38 in ONE month because I went over my bandwidth limit, but I had no idea since the statistics in the Admin Panel were incorrect..."
"Constant issues with mail servers. The web servers suddenly are down. They drop features (disabled support for Inno db table type) of mysql without any notification..."
"... If your trying to run a company - forget it."
ASPin.com --
"... There servers where down at least 20% of the time ... If I could get their 'technical support' to respond (half of the time my questions went unanswered) they would make things up. (ask the question on different days to different people and get completely different answers.) Overall it was just a huge burden on my company."
"Well here it is almost 12 days since my problems began and finally my site is up and running, for past 24 hrs anyways. It took countless chats with their tech support ( not much help at all there! ) and after 12 days they still won't admit they were having problems..."
"... Support people are belligerent and not very knowledgable [sic], including the VP of Operations, Paul Murdock..."
"... From the day I started using brinkster I had problems with either the servers being down or the mySQL database being down ... I highly recommend not using this service ... It has been a HUGE strain on my business."
free-webhosts.com --
"brinkster.com would have to be the worst host on the net..."
"Many unhappy experience happened on me and my netfriends and my company. Most of us use the free service and my company and some netfriends even use the paid service. But they always claim on we have violated the TOS, but actually we have used it for several years without any violation. The final result would be account suddenly deleted without any notice NOR reason!! And no way to get back the data that not yet backup. So STRONGLY dis-recommended for business user, my company is an example!"
Cnet --
"Site-building software is buggy; design templates are limited; no e-commerce or marketing tools."
I could make this list of quotes go on for days. Just type in "Brinkster reviews" in Google and see for yourself. The reason they shut my site down isn't because of any insulting content or copyrighted pictures. They shut down my site because I wrote about my experience being hosted on their servers and they didn't want any prospective clients reading about it. As I mentioned earlier, Google does list that article on the second page when you search for "brinkster." I hope this article gets listed on the first page.
FUCK YOU, BRINKSTER.
